A 37-yr-old male presented with a symptomatic maxillary right lateral incisor that
had previous root canal therapy. The periapical radiograph revealed the possibility.
of a second canal despite the rarity of such an occurrence in maxillary lateral incisors.
A second canal was located, treated, and the patient's symptoms were eliminated. Knowledge
of developmental anomalies and careful pretreatment evaluation of radiographs is essential
for diagnosing unusual canal morphology.
